There's a Snake in My Boot

There are MANY things that I'm NOT looking forward to 'doing over'. But Number Five (that's what Maddie and David ARE CALLING him/her) have me thinking about all the fabulous parental opportunities that are coming my way. Again. Diapers. Potty Training. Sigh.

However, with Toy Story 3 coming out this time next year, the baby will be almost the exact same age Isaac was when #2 came out. I am so excited to go through the Toy Story phase with another child. Maybe I'll be able to free all of our friends from the box, high on a shelf in Isaac's closet where they have been so carefully protected.

It will be nice to have them around the house again.

In must be a slow news day. When (bored out of my mind) I checked entertainment news at msn.com there was a story about the SJ Parkers not splitting up.

The story was posted on January 26.

Heavy Hearts

In our circle of girlfriends, we lost our first parent this week.

Up until now we've grieved for each other's grandparents. I guess we've entered a new era. The next phase in life. But is anyone ever ready for it?

Once again, I wonder why I'm 600 miles away. And I hope my love is making its way through the Nevada desert and over the Sierras to the Veare family.

Through the magic of FaceBook, a long, lost friend - or mom of a friend contacted Jill this week and mentioned the passing of one of her kids. We did a little digging... it's weird to mourn for someone from so long ago:

A man who died Saturday after losing control of his motorcycle at an estimated 90 mph has been identified as Justin Murray Young, 23. The California Highway Patrol said Young, a Meadow Vista resident, was traveling north on Placer Hills Road shortly before 7 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve. The 2005 Suzuki hit an 8-inch curb, which sent the victim through the air and into a tree, the CHP said. Young was pronounced dead at the scene, the agency said.

She was not.

Clean Up in Aisle 9

I went to the grocery store today.

Why does that deserve blogging recognition?

In the last few weeks any and all shopping has been painful and kept to a minimum. The food on the shelves mocked me, taunted me, all the while tried to get me to puke right there on the shiny, cement floor. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

But TODAY I marched in to our new store feeling better than I have all week, confident that I could conquer all.

Let me tell you, it faded quickly.

I was fine in the 'dry' areas. Cleaning supplies, canned foods, etc.

But once I moved in to dairy and juice it immediately went downhill.

I plugged along, but when I was about 2/3 done, the store's sound system went through an automated alarm; high-pitched beeping followed by a robotic voice telling us all something about a fire being reported and while it's being investigated, please move to the nearest exit.

It was just after 9am, so there were just a few other shoppers. We kind of looked at each other, waiting for someone to make the first move towards an exit. No one did.

I continued to shop and NO ONE was going deter me.

Too much effort had gone in to filling my basket. I knew I didn't have it in me to go back and 'redo'.

I chose to burn with my groceries.

Fortunately, my courage wasn't truly put to the test, and the alarm was soon cancelled.

I finished up in the meats and then produce, managing to stay in the store long enough to drop $160.

And now if you'll excuse me, the day's events have thoroughly exhausted me. That and the on-going sleeping pills.

It's naptime.
